How To Organize Your Home Based Business | The Mailbox Money ...

Jumping head first into the Online Marketing Industry can be extremely overwhelming.

You hop online, Google different search topics and begin your journey down the path of information overload and analysis paralysis, not knowing quite how to navigate your days and focus time to get the point where you?re successfully making money online.

Considering that this has been my story for the past 5 years, I?ve finally come to a place where I can see where I?ve been letting things slip through the cracks and creating a scatterbrained approach to nearly every element of my business, so I decided to do a series on How To Organize Your Home Based Business, which will cover the following areas:

• Establishing Business Goals for your Home Based Business (HBB)

• Putting Blogging Goals Together

• Creating Lead Generation Goals

• Establishing Social Media Goals for your HBB

• How To Manage Your Finances for your HBB

• Organizing Your Blog For Your HBB

• How To Outsource for your HBB

• Setting up a Daily Method of Operation (DMO) for your HBB

This series will obviously be spread out over a few months, within specific blog posts. I will be using myself as a Case Study, so you can see the Before & After that I?m faced with in the process of getting all elements of my Home Based Business in order!

I gladly invite you to share your comments, questions, concerns, etc, so we can begin incorporating areas that I may miss. This will be a very exciting journey that I hope will help many of you who desire to get your professional and personal lives in order!

Currently, I feel like I have so many aspects of my business out of whack. For example, here are a few areas that I know I need to work on:

• Every aspect of my business has been ?sporadic? rather than properly planned and it?s time to change that.

• I haven?t been blogging consistently because I haven?t been properly utilizing a content calendar, which I?ve begun implementing since putting this plan as my primary focus for the next few weeks.

• My Team of contractors that I?ve hired to work with me have all been more ?reactive? rather than ?proactive? due to me constantly shooting over ?urgent requests? rather than a well thought out plan for what they?re to do based on the goals that I have for my business.

• My blog, auto-responder messages and every other element of my Online Marketing all need to be updated with a modified message of where I am today, and what my business focus is on today!

• I have soooo many unfinished projects, and I?m ready to wrap them up and put them in place, while focusing on 1-2 key areas of my business.

• My business and personal finances are so far out of whack that It scares me. I?m a year behind on my taxes and haven?t done anything to manage my accounting for my business this year, so I?ve scheduled an appointment with my CPA to make sure he forces me to stay on track, and I?ll also be hiring him as a bookkeeper to ensure that I no longer allow this much time to go by without me handling this side of my business finances.

• My blog? OMG, where do I start. From the pages that are years old, to the disorganization of the tags, categories and content. Time to clean this up, along with other key elements of this blog so that it can reflect who I am today!

I must admit that last year, I was way more organized than I have been this year, but with me having the baby and all, of course I?ve been strongly off course.

However, no more excuses!!

He?s 7 1/2 months now, and I?m ready to get myself and my business back in shape, so it?s time to put a plan in place so I no longer have this internal feeling of not knowing what?s going on, and jumping sporadically at activities daily, without any level of measurement to know what progress I?m making and what changes I need to implement that will get me closer to reaching the goals that I have for my business.

So many times, I?ve seen people jump zealously into the Internet Marketing Industry with sky-lined dreams of making tons of money online.

They hop on a few webinars, purchase a few products and voila? they wait for the magic to happen?.

BUT?.. Nothing every happens!

Why?

Because they had no plan, no goals, and no idea what in the heck they were expecting to accomplish in their business.

So instead of pursuing daily activities that will help them manifest their plan, they instead grab a megaphone, and shout out to the hilltops to anyone that can hear them, professing that THIS INTERNET MARKETING THING DOESN?T WORK? IT?S A SCAM.. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!

The biggest misconception about Internet Marketing is that you can treat this industry like a? hobby and make boatloads of money. Now I?ll admit, there are some possibilities of this some where in there.. however, the likelihood of things like this really happening for the majority is slim to none.

On the other hand.. If you treat this Internet Marketing journey like a Real Business, have clear goals of what you want to accomplish, with a blueprint and plan of how you plan on accomplishing them, then the likelihood of you seeing success is much greater than most, and the ability to reach them will be very very high!

I will even stick my neck out there to say that if you put a plan in place, stick to it, and implement it daily, you?ll exceed your goals.

I?m even going to show you how this works for me by clearly documenting this process so you can see why I?m a huge advocate for planning success in your business!

There are specific things that I?m going to focus on in the next few weeks. Considering that I?m literally putting my plan for the entire 2012, into these last few months of the year, I have to have laser focused goals in order to accomplish them in just 4 1/2 short months.

I usually plan the following year out towards the end of the? year, so for example, I try to spend the last quarter of the year mapping out my goals, the vision that I have and the blueprint to accomplishing them for the following year (2013), throughout the last quarter of 2012.

Considering that I was giving birth on New Years Eve this year, and didn?t have the pleasure to focus on anything other than the arrival of my new son?. I?m starting a tad bit late on 2012 goals!

So in addition to working on my 2013 goals, I?m going to map out my 5 major goals for 2012 (this will be a separate blog post), and focus the remaining few months of this year on them, while documenting each step along the way!

However, in order to successfully accomplish my 5, 2012 goals, this is where I?m going to start first:

1. Totally clean up this blog and revamp it so that it can be organized and line up with my ?Today?s Message??.
2. Update the Freebie that I offer from the 6FSF to the $1k Per Day Blueprint using Pop Up Domination and a Free Ebook I will Write
3. Clean up my Auto-Responder Messages. For the first 4 years of being online, I promoted different businesses like MLSP and Ardyss, but I?m now focused primarily on Empower Network and the PLR Store so I?ll have to modify everything to reflect that
4. Modify my Facebook Fan Page and make it more interactive
5. Implement more value into my blog and make it more interactive as well so people can truly get a sneak peek into how I run my business and how I generate the income I generate, so you?ll begin to see my Income Reports along with other financial goals that I have for my business.

For years, I feel like I?ve operated out of desperation rather than vision.? Yes, I had a vision for what I wanted to accomplish, but I desperately spread myself so thin, that when it came down to being effective and laser focused in one area,? I just don?t feel like I?ve been all the way there mentally like I am today.

With my 2 young ones constantly in demand of my time, my focus has been sharpened, and with this series, you?ll get access to see how I?m going to transform every element of my business life into 5 goals, and a select few strategies that I?ll be implementing soon!
