Light the Night Walk at MCC raises $135,000 | Cancer Kick

The Western Central New York Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?s 13h Annual Light The Night Walk, raised more than $135,000 and attracted more than 1,200 participants on Friday.

The walk took place at Monroe Community College?s Brighton Campus.

Light The Night is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?s nationwide evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer.? Funds are raised to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and all blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

A one mile Light The Night Walk in Rochester featured flickering illuminated balloons; white for cancer survivors, red for supporters and gold to honor the memory of those who lost their battle to cancer. The festivities included the music of New York Rock ?N Review, plenty of food and refreshments, a Chinese Auction, Raffles and a Prize Wheel.

?We want to thank the Rochester community in helping to make this year?s Light The Night Walk such a tremendous success.? ?The Rochester community will make a big difference in the battle to help local patients and help cure blood cancers.? We can?t thank everyone enough for their efforts? said Nancy Hails, Executive Director.
